Tips to save you money when buying a "Right Fit" ATS System Read this tip if you are an employer shopping for a new ATS System:
Over the years I have walked into many client situations where the HR or Staffing leaders I am meeting with proudly announce that they have selected a new recruiting technology (ATS) to automate their recruiting processes. Generally, my first reaction is "then why am I here?" -- My point is that if a company has reached out to me it is generally because they are in need of fixing something broken in recruiting. In fact, 9 out of 10 times, i find that their processes are so outdated, broken and misaligned with the current talent acquisition needs of the business that simple changes can tremendously impact the systems that would be best suited to their needs. Often the biggest mistake I see is a directive from above to automate and purchase recruiting technology without first doing a current state assessment to identify current practices and processes that the company should have fixed, streamlined or eliminated BEFORE the technology was selected and purchased.
When selecting a system, there are many factors that can impact which system will work best to achieve your hiring objectives. Some systems work much better in a centralized sourcing / recruiting environment where the need for variations and flexibility around different recruiting processes is not as important as central command and control over standard processes. On the other hand, other systems offer far more flexibility to tailor workflows to different business unit needs -- which in a decentralized structure, will be a very important criteria to consider.
So with that said, my takeaway tip that will save you thousands in retrofitting and re-engineering costs is to assess your current state and fix broken recruiting process / practices first -- Then Go Shopping for your new "right fit" system.
